The NJASK was a lot easier than I expected it to be. It was kind of like Kingda Ka, all hype. I'm sure I got at least two questions wrong, but I think I got the rest right. I feel good about what I did on the test. I hope everybody else fells this way because it's a good feeling looking back on the most important test of the year and "I nailed it." It makes you feel like you can fly, but when you try jump out your window not off your bed. There's no better way to end the school year than to go to the hospital. If the NJASK is that easy every year, there will be no problem. Math didn't really need to prepare us for it, but I understand why english did. Writing stamina is not an easily accomplished thing.  It takes practice. I'm glad I didn't forget the perfectly made buger. I ate it during the test. Actully it was three. The secret sauce was amazing, my complements to the chef. Thank you Rebecca, I made it special for the NJASK. I see that, it is better than it ever has been before, Rebecca. This break paid to you by Mrs. Patalano's buger method. I have no more, have a nice summer!

Often we get tired of failing over and over and still trying to do whaatever they are. "Fall down seven times, stand up eight." Japanese proverb Do we hate this quote so much. It pushes to keep trying even when we fail every time we tried. Failing is not an easy thing. It shatters our esteem and makes it near impossible to get back up.
In my life I constantly got bad grades on my report card. I tried as hard as I could. I just couldn't get the grades I wanted. I didn't want to get up.  Getting up seemed to do no good. I decided to get up one more time. When I did I got Bs. The next marking period I got As. I was so happy. The win was more savory. Sweeter somehow.
Abraham Linclon was a great president, but he had to get over many bumps in the road. He was constantly told no. It was defeated many times. This might have caused him to become dicoraged, but he didn't show it . He kept trying living his life by this quote and eventually became one of the best presidents in United States history.
"We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy." It is easy to give up and let yourself be taken away." J. K. Rowling To give in to the ebb of life. It is hard to get up again, but it's the right thing to do. How do you know that if you hadn't given up, you wouldn't have freed the slaves.

Dear Superintedent Richard O'Malley,

Occasionally on the news there is a school shooting or someone drug overdosing. When these occur everyone watching is disturbed. The Edison School Board has made a proposal to institute random locker searches. Little to no students will agree with this propsal. There are numerous negative consequences. It is a violation of our Constitutional rights. I will not actually improve safety. It will waste the administrators valuable time.
The Constitution clearly states that no one is subject to search without just cause. The school board is doing just that. There is no reason, just that there is a remote possibility that someone may have illegal paraphernalia. Those who agree with this proposal might say that if someone looks fine they may just be good at hiding things. This is facile. Ninety nine point nine percent of the time if someone looks fine they are fine.
The entire reason for this proposal is to improve safety. This will not atually happen. If someone has a messy locker it will be near impossible to find anything, let alone something the the temporary owner of the locker was trying to hide. If you did try to look through the trash in the locker it might all flow out. The person not bring the illegal paraphernalia to school that day. Those who oppose my opinion will probably say that they will clean it if they know someone is going to be searching it. Maybe students who don't have illegal things in their locker.
The administrators have many things to do. They are in charge of a school. Forcing them to search lockers will take up their time. They could be setting a student. Inspiring a boy/girl to stop messing around and throw themselves into school. The people who want this proposal to go through will most likely say that if an administrator finds the illegal paraphernalia that it will all be worth it. On almost all the searches nothing will be found. Usually if the person has something they will be acting suspiciously.
This proposal will not be beneficial to the school. It violates the students rights. The safety of the school will not actually improve. it will waste the administrators valuable time. This proposal will start an avoidable war.

"The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to take in higher esteem those who think alike than those who act differently." In a world of so many conformists we need at least a couple who "take the road less traveled by." Many public schools are beginning to use uniforms. They believe that they promote academic performance. Edison township plans to enforce a mandatory uniform policy in their public schools. While there may have some positive effects, the negative outweigh them. The policy would infringe on the rights given to us in the Constitution. It would cause students to rebel in better places. The uniforms would cost much more money.
A uniform policy would infringe on the rights given to us buy the first amendment of the Constitution. This amendment states clearly that everybody has the freedom of the expression. This includes students. Schools are already breaching our freedom of speech. Any more than that just shown that the membors of the school bourd do not care about a document created specifically for our country that took many years to write. Some people might say that people don't express themselves through their clothes, but their words, their spirit, their personality. Students do not know how to show everybody who they are without their clothes. They embed themselves through their clothes. The Constitution is the most important document in American history. No one should try to violate that.
If students cannot control their clothes, they will want to take control of the larger issues. Children, like all of us, just want control of their own lives. They can't control much, but they can control their clothes. Taking this away would cause an extreme, negative reaction. Without clothes to take control of they would take control of more important things, such as homework. Some people may argue that students would not actually do this. That they care too much about their grades. The truth is kids know that the teachers and principals would not enjoy a good percentage receiving Fs. Clothes are a miniscule item compared to homework.
It would cost a great deal more for parents to buy the uniforms than regular clothes. Instead of buying seven to ten outfits, they would have to by 13 to 14. Uniforms would also be much more expensive than everyday clothes.  They would also have to pay more money for water and detergent considering they only have three or four outfits during the week. Those on the side of the uniform policy might say that it costs less because they only have to buy three or four outfits. This is wrong because do kids really want to go home and wear their uniform. They're not going to want to wear it on the weekends either. This might cause families to go into poverty.
Uniforms have some beneficial qualities, but the negative tip the scale. A uniform policy would infringe on the rights given to us buy the first amendment of the Constitution. If students cannot control their clothes, they might take control of a bigget issues. It would cost a great deal more for parents to buy the uniforms than regular clothes. A uniform policy would cause an uproar among sudents, parents, and the founding fathers.

Nobody likes carrying around big heavy books. A bookenator solves this problem. It shrinks books without fail. It would be prudent to sponsor the bookenator for many reasons. It is a fantastic product with very little downside.
Everyone will want a bookenator. There is no product quite like the bookenator. Twenty-five percent of students carry backpacks 20% or more of their body weight on a daily basis. The bookenator anilities this problem. The bookenator contains three smells chosen by a survey of our target audience. The bookenator will clearly be the talk of the town.
The bookenator will earn your company numerous amounts of money if you cooperate. With just an ad, in a small known newspaper, the bookenator sold 1,000 units in the period of two weeks. People will pay an abundance of money considering the lowest price for a device like this is 139 dollars. The bookenator exceeds that product’s value. The bookenator is very cheap to make. For those reasons the profit margin will be high.
Only our engineers have the ability to manufacture this product. It is an advanced piece of software. While easy to make once you are trained, you need to be trained for a month. Our engineers have already been trained, but some companies do not want to wait the month. The bookenator is a new way of thinking, so other companies would not have been working on ways to create a product similar to ours. With no competitors, the bookenator would excel because people would be required to buy from us.
The bookenator is a sensational product. Everybody will want a bookenator. It will make your corporation an excess of money. It is a product that only our engineers can manufacture. The sponsorship of the bookenator would not be good, but essential to staying ahead of your competitor.

Reflection on Something or another

Looking back at my commercial, there are things that I enjoyed, but it was not perfect there were some things I could change. I like that my commercial was funny. It really seemed to engage the audience. Humor is always a good way to keep your audience interested. It was also creative. I did not settle for an old idea that everyone has used. The commercial showcased my talents. One of them was my great announcer voice. Every commercial needs an announcer to move the plot along and tell about the product. I also thought my Barack Obama voice was good although it was better the time we didn't use. In my commercial I feel we could improve on the memorazation of our lines. If you don't remember what your sopposed to do it it throws the whole commercial off track. Luckily we managed to get back on track. We could also improve our commercial by adding more people, but we did the best we did with what we had. If there is a next time I feel a statistic or the bandwagon approach would have been fun to try. There were highs and lows throughout the creative process. A particular high was creating the bookenator. It was fun to see how to make my idea a reality. It was also amusing when I practiced my Obama voice. The next time I write I hope to try to persuade my audience without hiding behind humor. A real product speaks for itself so does a real writer. I could also make it a little biut shorter and showcase the really important points. Each project you to should impart some wisdom. From this project I learned that you may think you know the words, but you don't. Even if you practice it a countless number of times, your memory may fail you. I enjoyed this project very much.

I'm sure that there were many commercials sent into you and I'd like to take the time to thank you for looking over my commercial. Without further adu, I'd like to present the reasons for which you should choose my commercial to air on television. It showcases the good of the product and glimmers over the bad. This is an excellent product, but it does have faults. If somebody did a commercial and said every fault with a product the consumer would not want to buy the product. On the flipside, if you don't even talk about the faults, somebody will tell them, and they will be repulsed from the product. You need to present the downside, but give a reason for why the fault doesn't matter. That is exactly what I did. In a commercial you need to approach the product in a humerous way. When a commercial makes me laugh it makes me want to buy the product even if I don't need it. Humer makes people interested. It makes a commercial personalized and brings them in. It shows the watcher how it works and how easy it is to use. In todays society accessability is essential. My commercial shows how this is exactly why the BookEnator was invented.

There are many ways to get people to buy things. Ads help a lot in this process. My favorite ad is the one for I Am Number Four. They capture my intrest my showing scenes of action. They show the best parts of the movie. It also uses animation to tie into the commercial. Now I want to see this movie AND read the book. I hope it does not go out of thearters before I get to see it. It flashes the images in an appealing way. You can see the basic theme of the story whithout giving away the details. I shows the relationships and the main characters. I'm sure many people will agree with me in wanting to see this movie. They did a great job of advirtising. they even did it on channels that were more likely to attract the kind of person who like that kind of movie.

Throughout this college and career unit I have learned much. I learned that you can't just say you're going to something. You have to work your hardest to get it. I also learned you don;t have to be perfect, but if you're as good as you can be, you usually can manage to come out on top. For instance in the job interviews,  I was caught with a question I wasn't prepared for. I did my best to come up with a good answer and it wasn't that bad. You may not be perfect, but you can be pretty good. Another thing I learned was that if your using pen, have more than one card. I was writing my thank you card. When I got to the end I realized I would not be able to fit all the words on the cards. I ended up having to write it on top, but if it were real, I would have been done for. That's why you need an extra copy of whatever your writing even for the least important item.  I really hope I don't have to go all this when I go to college again. Hopefully, it will be easier when I do it the next time because of this unit.

It's not just experiences that shape your life, but people. There are many people that have shaped my life, both good and bad.  are two people that inspire me and most of decisions in my life are my parents. They encase how I want to be both now and in the future. They both come from families where the odds were against them . My parents started a family in big town. That is where I see myself after graduating. While, because I have them, I can’t be exactly like them, that’s good because that will help me from plagiarizing there life.
I am constantly reading and all my favorite characters are remind me of my dad. They are usually smart people who overcame hardships. They also have a strong leadership position. He manages not to just be a leader, but a leader everybody loves. He once spent Christmas Eve playing Santa at a homeless shelter. He went to college a long way away from home and he took it not as a challenge, but a mountain to overcome. He takes all challenges and just stares them down. I believe he has helped me become the person I am today and I am proud to say that. My mother also has shaped my life, but in a different way. My mother knew what she wanted to do. She wanted to become a nurse. She didn't let the numerous antagonists in her way stop her she charged rite ahead and did it. My mother taught me that if you're not tall you can still have an intimidating presence to if you use your brains. She taught me that brains can solve any problem. She is the motherly figure in all the books. She reminds me so much of Mae Tuck in Tuck Everlasting. Mae is powerful and sweet. My parents have taught me many things in my life, but there are some things they can't teach. Such as the skills needed to make as a mechanical engineer and how to make it as an adult. M.I.T., I feel will teach me these skills, and whatever else I need to learn to become like my parents.

Technology affects how we learn. While the people who say that it has a negative affect on children's attention span have a valid point, they are absolutely  wrong to not let there kids or students not go on because of this. The Internet brings thousands of articles to your fingertips. It is so simple to research that people, just because they're bored, will read articles. You can get books online easily and quickly. This makes it more likely for people to read. Another problem with technology is that kids can access things that distract them from schoolwork, but that doesn't mean that they can't take precautions and set rules. I know that people are worried by things that their kids can do better than them. Sure it's scary for your kids to be able do something that you don't know how to protect them from or if they're really doing something bad. Those people should get over their pride and take a class. That is no reason to keep their kids from learning to their potential with the technology we have. Technology allows people to learn a whole lot more than was learned when we did not have technology. I mean sure, there are valid points to their campaign to annihilate the Internet, but the pros always outweigh the cons, and it most definitly helps us learn a whole lot more than a time without technology. People will try to tell you otherwise, but those people are WRONG.

What Ms. Carrol should know.

Hi, my name is Rebecca Welch. I come from James Monroe Elementary School. I like to read in my spare time. The class is fairly relaxed. Every week we have a grammer quiz. Lately, we have been doing a study island quiz ,too. We do all our tests on the smartbourd via clickers. Every week we have to comment on someones blog from the past week. We also have a blog post every week. Mrs. Patalano tells us what to post. Every day we have to read at least 20 pages and have signed consent from our parents. We can only use the form she gives to us as I have found out many times. We are currently doing a unit on future careers and King Tut. That's all you need to know.

It is important to plan for the future. Since I was about five, I have wanted to become a mechanical engineer. I have always loved the idea of creating new things that have never been done before. Seeing the new gadgets, I am always trying to figure out how to make them better. Sometimes I even think so up before they come out. I have also wanted to become a mechanic, but there is not enough change day to day and won't challenge me enough.
I have always wanted to go to either MIT or Harvard. I would like to go to MIT because it is an amazing school. It is also close to my home, but not too close so I can get that feeling of being on my own. Furthermore, it speacializes in technology. Mechanical engineers make technology so that falls into MIT's catagory. I would like to go to Harvard because it is also a very nice school. It is one of the best in the country. It is also one of the oldest. I love the history of it. It is also close to my home, but not too close so I can get that feeling of being on my own.

In my life I have been blessed with many things, but there are still things I can improve upon. Procrastinating, for me, has been an ongoing struggle so I am making it my resolution to stop procrastinating. Take today, this morning I was doing my current event that was due today. It caused me a lot of stress because of that I was late. That caused me even more stress. All that stress, just because I procrastinated. That stress adds so much pressure to my life. The assignments are often not my best work because I was rushing. I will stop procrastinating by doing an assignment as soon as I can. If I do not I will force myself not to do the homework. That will teach me a negative response, and I will realize what happens when I procrastinate. Keeping true to my resolution I will improve my life both in and out of school.
Today millions of teens have a part time job. Still, an excruciatingly frustrating number of parents say it would cause their teens grades to degrade so they have forced them to decline jobs. Jobs provide teens with a view on how the working world, well works. The jobs would assist teens into breading the stereotype of 30 year olds with their parents. A part time job will help that stereotype become a crazy image from the time when we didn’t have hover cars.
It would be beneficial for teens to get a part time job. The first reason is simply that teens need money. It’s just a fact, every teens wants something. Did you know that according to a recent study 75% of teens have to constantly bother their parents for money. If teens use their money irresponsibly, that wouldn’t be good for them or their parents.
A job can even help teens improve their grades. Having money gives teens responsibility, which gives them incentive to work harder. A recent study of teens showed that all kids had two more extracurricular activities. One of those could easily be exchanged for a part time job without much change. A downside is that some people might have the reverse reaction and do worse.
Taking part in the working world gives teens a chance to see what it’s like to be an adult. There are way too many 30 year olds living in their mothers basement. Showing kids what it’s like to be an adult too early might make them think they don’t want to be an adult.
During teenage years not all of the years the education needed for the world is taught in the classroom but in the working world. An addition of a part time job to an average day would serve just this purpose. A job would improve teens incentive to get a part time job. It would save teens tons of time spent bothering their parents for money. It would also give an image of how adulthood works. If you’re a parent, next time you see your teen, tell them that they can get a job if they want.

Chimney Slide or Window Climber

For decades, kids have contemplated how a man with such a big belly fit through the chimney as their parents have told them, but the original story of St. Nick says that he threw the gifts through the window. The question remains, does he go through the window or does he sail down the chimney.
If Santa doesn't go through the chimney, how does he eat the cookies and stay long enough for the warm milk not to burn him. The presents are all laid out very neatly under the tree so unless Santa is an amazing shot and he might be because he has had a lot of practice, he came into the house. There also is the fact of "Why would our parents lie to us?" They have no reason to lie about how Santa leaves the presents, we're happy just to get them.
If the story of Santa comes from St. Nick, then shouldn't he keep true to the old story just a little more extravagant? He may be able to throw in all the toys into the stockings under the tree. It would explain how such a fat man fits down a chimney. Some people don't even have chimneys.  Though there is the fact that he's is magic. If he is throwing toys into the house shouldn't we be able to hear him, especially if there is a light sleeper in the family. Of course that can also be explained with his magical abilities.
I personally love the magic in him going down the chimney with his large belly and big bag of toys. If you're going to believe in Santa Clause it is much more fun to think that he is going down the chimney while I sleep. Thinking he is throwing presents through the windows makes me wonder how is he sopposed to eat the cookies I so carefully laid out.

Santa, first of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my letter even though you have millions to read. For Christmas, I would like a puppy. Puppies are really nice and playful. They would help me get exercise and happiness. You could get me a rescue puppy. That would save a young puppy’s life. Getting me a puppy would be good for both me and the puppy.
I already have a dog, but I love her so much I would like another one to keep her company. She is very lonely, especially  when I’m away at school. Another dog would help her to not be bored and chew things. That means we could leave her out of her crate.
I have been very good this year. I took good care of my dog Cookie. Also, I help my mother out around the house. I did all my homework. I believe I have followed all the rules to get a good Christmas present. I have put in countless hours into my current dog. Thank you for taking the time to consider a puppy as a present for Christmas this year. I hope you decide that I am deserving this amazing treat.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Welch

Thanksgiving Turkey

Thanksgiving is a day of tradition. The tradition I have dicided to investigate is the turkey. It is a turkey because that is sopposedly the meal that the Pilgrems helped the Indians make. They had a turkey because this was the only bird they managed to hunt. All the others had gone south. They enoyed this meal with great relish, happy that they even found meat. We still eat the turkey to recagnize that we are still thankful to get anything we can even though thanksgiving could bring steak or lobster. We eat the simple turkey so we can feel a connection to our ansestors and that thanksgiving. Also so even poor people can have a traditional thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is about giving thanks and everybody should be able to do that.
