Throughout this college and career unit I have learned much. I learned that you can't just say you're going to something. You have to work your hardest to get it. I also learned you don;t have to be perfect, but if you're as good as you can be, you usually can manage to come out on top. For instance in the job interviews, I was caught with a question I wasn't prepared for. I did my best to come up with a good answer and it wasn't that bad. You may not be perfect, but you can be pretty good. Another thing I learned was that if your using pen, have more than one card. I was writing my thank you card. When I got to the end I realized I would not be able to fit all the words on the cards. I ended up having to write it on top, but if it were real, I would have been done for. That's why you need an extra copy of whatever your writing even for the least important item. I really hope I don't have to go all this when I go to college again. Hopefully, it will be easier when I do it the next time because of this unit.

It's not just experiences that shape your life, but people. There are many people that have shaped my life, both good and bad. are two people that inspire me and most of decisions in my life are my parents. They encase how I want to be both now and in the future. They both come from families where the odds were against them . My parents started a family in big town. That is where I see myself after graduating. While, because I have them, I can’t be exactly like them, that’s good because that will help me from plagiarizing there life.
I am constantly reading and all my favorite characters are remind me of my dad. They are usually smart people who overcame hardships. They also have a strong leadership position. He manages not to just be a leader, but a leader everybody loves. He once spent Christmas Eve playing Santa at a homeless shelter. He went to college a long way away from home and he took it not as a challenge, but a mountain to overcome. He takes all challenges and just stares them down. I believe he has helped me become the person I am today and I am proud to say that. My mother also has shaped my life, but in a different way. My mother knew what she wanted to do. She wanted to become a nurse. She didn't let the numerous antagonists in her way stop her she charged rite ahead and did it. My mother taught me that if you're not tall you can still have an intimidating presence to if you use your brains. She taught me that brains can solve any problem. She is the motherly figure in all the books. She reminds me so much of Mae Tuck in Tuck Everlasting. Mae is powerful and sweet. My parents have taught me many things in my life, but there are some things they can't teach. Such as the skills needed to make as a mechanical engineer and how to make it as an adult. M.I.T., I feel will teach me these skills, and whatever else I need to learn to become like my parents.

Technology affects how we learn. While the people who say that it has a negative affect on children's attention span have a valid point, they are absolutely wrong to not let there kids or students not go on because of this. The Internet brings thousands of articles to your fingertips. It is so simple to research that people, just because they're bored, will read articles. You can get books online easily and quickly. This makes it more likely for people to read. Another problem with technology is that kids can access things that distract them from schoolwork, but that doesn't mean that they can't take precautions and set rules. I know that people are worried by things that their kids can do better than them. Sure it's scary for your kids to be able do something that you don't know how to protect them from or if they're really doing something bad. Those people should get over their pride and take a class. That is no reason to keep their kids from learning to their potential with the technology we have. Technology allows people to learn a whole lot more than was learned when we did not have technology. I mean sure, there are valid points to their campaign to annihilate the Internet, but the pros always outweigh the cons, and it most definitly helps us learn a whole lot more than a time without technology. People will try to tell you otherwise, but those people are WRONG.

What Ms. Carrol should know.
Hi, my name is Rebecca Welch. I come from James Monroe Elementary School. I like to read in my spare time. The class is fairly relaxed. Every week we have a grammer quiz. Lately, we have been doing a study island quiz ,too. We do all our tests on the smartbourd via clickers. Every week we have to comment on someones blog from the past week. We also have a blog post every week. Mrs. Patalano tells us what to post. Every day we have to read at least 20 pages and have signed consent from our parents. We can only use the form she gives to us as I have found out many times. We are currently doing a unit on future careers and King Tut. That's all you need to know.

It is important to plan for the future. Since I was about five, I have wanted to become a mechanical engineer. I have always loved the idea of creating new things that have never been done before. Seeing the new gadgets, I am always trying to figure out how to make them better. Sometimes I even think so up before they come out. I have also wanted to become a mechanic, but there is not enough change day to day and won't challenge me enough.
I have always wanted to go to either MIT or Harvard. I would like to go to MIT because it is an amazing school. It is also close to my home, but not too close so I can get that feeling of being on my own. Furthermore, it speacializes in technology. Mechanical engineers make technology so that falls into MIT's catagory. I would like to go to Harvard because it is also a very nice school. It is one of the best in the country. It is also one of the oldest. I love the history of it. It is also close to my home, but not too close so I can get that feeling of being on my own.

In my life I have been blessed with many things, but there are still things I can improve upon. Procrastinating, for me, has been an ongoing struggle so I am making it my resolution to stop procrastinating. Take today, this morning I was doing my current event that was due today. It caused me a lot of stress because of that I was late. That caused me even more stress. All that stress, just because I procrastinated. That stress adds so much pressure to my life. The assignments are often not my best work because I was rushing. I will stop procrastinating by doing an assignment as soon as I can. If I do not I will force myself not to do the homework. That will teach me a negative response, and I will realize what happens when I procrastinate. Keeping true to my resolution I will improve my life both in and out of school.
Today millions of teens have a part time job. Still, an excruciatingly frustrating number of parents say it would cause their teens grades to degrade so they have forced them to decline jobs. Jobs provide teens with a view on how the working world, well works. The jobs would assist teens into breading the stereotype of 30 year olds with their parents. A part time job will help that stereotype become a crazy image from the time when we didn’t have hover cars.
It would be beneficial for teens to get a part time job. The first reason is simply that teens need money. It’s just a fact, every teens wants something. Did you know that according to a recent study 75% of teens have to constantly bother their parents for money. If teens use their money irresponsibly, that wouldn’t be good for them or their parents.
A job can even help teens improve their grades. Having money gives teens responsibility, which gives them incentive to work harder. A recent study of teens showed that all kids had two more extracurricular activities. One of those could easily be exchanged for a part time job without much change. A downside is that some people might have the reverse reaction and do worse.
Taking part in the working world gives teens a chance to see what it’s like to be an adult. There are way too many 30 year olds living in their mothers basement. Showing kids what it’s like to be an adult too early might make them think they don’t want to be an adult.
During teenage years not all of the years the education needed for the world is taught in the classroom but in the working world. An addition of a part time job to an average day would serve just this purpose. A job would improve teens incentive to get a part time job. It would save teens tons of time spent bothering their parents for money. It would also give an image of how adulthood works. If you’re a parent, next time you see your teen, tell them that they can get a job if they want.
